How the numbers work

Current run rate is runs scored per over actually faced. Required rate is the runs still needed per over remaining — it assumes all ten wickets are available and no rain. The “if you score at…” ladder shows where the chase finishes at a steady rate from now, which is the honest way to judge a run chase: the required rate is a target, not a promise.
