The WHS formulas behind it

Score Differential = (113 ÷ Slope) × (Adjusted Gross − Course Rating − PCC), where PCC is the playing-conditions adjustment (usually 0). Your Handicap Index is the average of your best eight differentials out of the last twenty. Course Handicap = Index × (Slope ÷ 113) + (Course Rating − Par), and the Playing Handicap is the Course Handicap with the competition's allowance applied.
