☄️ Meteor Shower Sky Lab

Stargaze a live meteor shower: pick a real shower (Perseids, Geminids, Leonids…), set radiant altitude, observing skill and light pollution — the model converts the catalogue Zenithal Hourly Rate into the meteors you'd actually see per hour, with brightness ∝ velocity³ and the occasional fireball.

🔬 Modelling notes (real physics used)

Observed rate N ≈ ZHR·sin(altitude of radiant)·r^(m_lim − 6.5), population index r ≈ 2.2, the standard ZHR-to-visible conversion. Luminosity ∝ meteoroid mass·v³ (kinetic-energy rate), so the same grain is ~8× brighter at 59 km/s than at 30 km/s. Meteoroid masses follow a power law (differential index s ≈ 2.2) giving ~1 fireball per 30–500 h depending on shower. Real shower parameters: Perseids 100/59, Geminids 150/35, Leonids 15/71, Quadrantids 110/41, Orionids 20/66, Taurids 7/28.
