The quiet rectangle beside the object. In Anglo-American practice: maker, dates, title in italics, date of work, medium, dimensions, credit line, accession number. Fill the fields; the wall card sets itself.
Curator’s note. “Untitled” is a title and still goes in italics. Unknown makers are “Unknown artist” plus culture and period. Dimensions are height × width × depth, metric first in UK galleries. Do not put a story paragraph on the tombstone — that is wall text, a different exhibit.
Order follows common National Gallery / V&A / Met wall-label practice. House style always wins: some museums put nationality on the first line, some suppress the credit on short labels.
