Terms are read in context: a clause that is enforceable for a hobby blog in Cardiff can be void for a subscription app selling into California, because consumer-protection law there overrides whatever the contract says. The jurisdiction picker changes the governing-law, court and consumer-rights wording for the obvious cases — it cannot know your sector regulator, your insurance, or the country your customers actually live in.
Three things to check yourself before publishing. If you sell to consumers in the EU or UK, the 14-day cancellation right for distance sales cannot be signed away, so the refund section is written to sit alongside it rather than to replace it. If you take payment from under-18s, or hold health, financial or children's data, you need sector-specific advice. And if your liability cap conflicts with your insurer's requirements, the policy — not the website — decides what you can promise.
Two practical notes: a terms page only binds anyone if visitors can actually see it before they buy (link it in the checkout and the footer, and keep a dated copy of each version), and a clause saying "by using this site you agree" is weaker than a real checkbox next to the order button.
