How the quiz is built and how long it takes to run

How many Halloween trivia questions do I need?

Ten questions per round, three rounds, is about 45 minutes with marking and arguments β€” the party standard. A quick quiz of 20 questions runs in half an hour; a full 75-question quiz needs an evening. The tool caps a 15-question round at about 18 minutes including reading each question twice and taking answers.

How does the difficulty setting work?

Easy draws on questions a family can answer β€” pumpkin facts, film titles, traditions. Mixed uses the whole bank. Hard drops the easiest half and keeps the history and horror-film detail. Within a round the questions are shuffled, but the last round is weighted hardest so the quiz has a finish rather than a flat line.

Can two teams get the same questions?

No β€” every question is dealt once across the whole quiz, so early rounds cannot feed later ones. Change the seed to reshuffle the whole set; the same seed always produces the same quiz, so you can reprint it next year.

What is a good tiebreaker?

A single question both teams answer in writing, marked before either is read out. The tool appends one automatically and does not count it in the round scores. If you need a second, ask for the release year of a film β€” close answers are easy to judge and hard to argue with.

Are the answers factual?

Yes, and where folklore is the answer it is marked as folklore rather than fact. The history questions follow the usual scholarly account β€” Samhain, All Hallows' Eve, turnip lanterns, guising β€” and film answers use release years and credited directors.
