How the hands work
The minute hand does a full circle in 60 minutes — 6° per minute. The hour hand does a full circle in 12 hours — 30° per hour, and it creeps another 0.5° every minute. That is why at 3:30 the hour hand is halfway between 3 and 4.

Tip for elapsed time: add the minutes, and if they pass 60, carry an hour. 2:45 + 30 min = 3:15, because 45 + 30 = 75 → “3:15”.
